Hope you all are enjoying your weekend and not blowing your diet too badly.
My food philosophy is eat more whole foods, less processed. Even “light” foods can be processed down. It is important to know the ingredients of the foods you eat on a normal basis.
When you go to the store, try to shop the perimeter of the store. This is where the meats, dairy, and fruits/veggies are kept, which should be the main portion of your diet.
Also note: The darker the food, the more nutrients it has in it (generally speaking). This means pick a red onion over the yellow one.
I am a huge Food Network (and Top Chef) fan, so here’s some recipes you should check out that are healthy whole foods and really yummy!
Bobby Flay’s recipes:
Grilled Chicken w/ Lemon and Arugula -Tomato Salad
If you don’t like arugula (it is a little bitter), go with a lettuce of your choice.

Grilled Jerk Chicken w/ Mango Cilantro Salsa
This one is also worth the effort.

Sunny Anderson’s recipe:
Grilled Fruit Salad w/ Honey Yogurt Dressing
Peaches would work great too.

Top Chef’s Healthy Remix Recipes
Haven’t tried all of these, but I’m working on it!

A dear friend once told me “If you can read a recipe, then you can cook!”

Yum!
I did buy the hot hot tomatoes this Friday. They are delish! Had four of them just now. Not blowing it…so far! Still keeping to my promises at least 97% of the time.
oops I meant hot house tomatoes. Have been on the computer and phone almost 5 hours today trying to get the wifi printer up and running…still not running. I’m going to the Humber Bay park now.
Oh my! I would be going crazy!! Have fun at the park, we are going to do the same.
Excellent…I am there with you…but in a parallel universe. hehe.
Good advice and a great reminder. My trainer friend told me to eat dark but did not mention the onions!! Did he mean chocolate too? I wish!
That is the word on the street! Dark choc supposedly has more antioxidants and is good for your heart.
Too bad I like milk chocolate better.
See, I knew you’d bring up the dark chocolate.
I LOVE dark chocolate and actually prefer it. But I like hunks in my chocolate and haven’t seen a good bar with almonds in it under $5. (Hershey’s w almonds being my absolute favorite in the world)
That is sooo funny!
ALSO a huge fan of Top Chef and thank you for the recipes. When does it start again?
They haven’t said when season 10 starts yet..but check this out. http://www.bravotv.com/thetour I’m going!
AWESOME! thanks I’m going too. June 25 for San Diego.
